BUILDER PROFILE: PHIL GOODWIN
Since 2004, Phil Goodwin, owner of Goodwin Classic Homes, has steadily emerged as one of the region’s preeminent builders of finely architected luxury homes. He has persisted through the great recession by conservative decision making, firm commitment to guiding principles, responsible financial practices, steadfast determination, and most importantly, unwavering dedication to his clients.
Phil is driven by a wholehearted passion for his work. He understands that creating a masterfully orchestrated home depends on every single detail of construction. He is a master of details, and he believes that crafting a truly elegant home demands an extraordinary level of care in all things revealed, as
well as all things hidden. He is a hands-on builder and is intimately involved with each and every one of the very small number of homes he builds each year. His background as a nuclear engineer drives his precise, well-organized homebuilding process.
One distinctive feature of his homebuilding process is a strong emphasis on green building principles. Phil understands the science of construction and embraces new technology that is rapidly changing the construction industry to greatly improve energy efficiency, indoor air quality, water efficiency, and environmental impact.
Phil has earned the Certified Green Professional Designation sponsored by the National Association of Home Builders. He is an active member of the Homebuilder’s Association of Charlotte, and he has earned an Accredited Builder Certification through the North Carolina Builder’s Institute. He holds B.S and M.S. degrees in Physics and Nuclear Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and he also holds a North Carolina Professional Engineering license.
Phil understands the principles of good architectural design through his involvement with the architectural community. He is a member of the Institute of Classical Architecture (ICA) and the Congress of Residential Architects (CORA). He also has travelled to the major cities and rural areas of England and France to study European architecture.
With an outstanding team of superbly talented design associates and highly experienced superintendents, tradesmen, and suppliers, Goodwin Classic Homes is uniquely positioned to deliver homes that not only technologically sophisticated, but are also works of art.
